Current Events

This last week we had a couple firsts for the Legacy wrestling program.  On Thursday the Sabers traveled to Minot and defeated the Magicians for the first time in program history.  We then stayed home tfor the Bismarck Rotary Tournament.

The Legacy Sabers are the 2025 Bismarck Rotary Champions.  The Sabers crowned three champions on the varsity side to claim the title.  The JV crowned 4 champions in a wonderful showing on Saturday.  This is a great start to the New Year. But we NEED to stay hungry and keep working for more.  NEVER SATISFIED!!!

This next week we take on the Saints of St. Mary's in a WDA Dual.  Thne  Saturday we travel just across the border to compete in the Gadberry Invitational in Moorhead MN.  This one day tournament will be a good test to keep our skills sharp!

The Focus of Wrestling
When you wrestle you must enjoy the sport and love the compeition! When you focus on the outcome (winning or losing) the enjoyment and the ferocity at which you compete diminishes due to fear.  This fear can manifest itself in many different ways.  You can have a fear of losing, a fear of exhustion, or a fear of letting others down.  Only work to control the controllables.  You cannot control your opponent.  You cannot control the referee.  You cannot control others or their opinions.  You can only control what you are willing to do.  You can only control the habits to which you want to create and follow. Outcomes take care of themselves so focus on what you can control.  Here a couple of quotes by two of the greatest ever!!

"Fall in love with wrestling, not winning. The wrestler not afraid to get scored on is the most dangerous. The momentum doesn’t belong to the wrestler who scored last, but to the wrestler willing to wrestle hardest in the next position. The most important point is the next one."     Jordan Burroughs
